Rules of the Road

I would like to summarize some of the guidelines for trail use.  They boil down to respect for others and respect for the law.  A more complete description can be found here.
  • Obey rules posted at the trail head.
  • Similar to driving, you should keep right, except to pass.
  • Give audible warning when approaching from behind so as not to startle anyone (whether people or animals).
  • In general, the rights-of-way that belonged to the railroads have been purchased for public use, but often pass through by private property.  Respect fences and postings, and give the benefit of the doubt to the property owners.
